John Lewis Beauty Event - Lots of Freebies and What I Bought: YSL, Dior and Clarins!

Hey everyone,

So on Friday I ventured into town with my fiance, Luke, to go and pick up my new camera from Argos. While I was there I decided it would be a good idea to go into John Lewis to get colour matched for the Diorskin Forever foundation, I've heard such great things about it and was hoping they would have a shade suitable that I could take home a little sample of to try.

When we went into John Lewis beauty department, we noticed it was busy and there was a little stage and a table that everyone was standing around in a que, so we went over and they were selling tickets for an event that from 5pm to 8pm. Straight away I knew I had to stay for this event and get myself a ticket!

The tickets were £10, but you could get that money back if you purchased anything from one of the beauty counters, so when you bought something you handed the ticket over to get £10 off and the ticket was then also entered into a raffle for the chance to win lots of different individual prizes! When you bought the ticket, you got a little wrist band, a John Lewis canvas bag and a huge goodie bag packed with samples and leaflets/brochures!

Most of the beauty counters had an offer on and I took advantage of the best offers going, but first let me talk about the goody bag as I thought it was brilliant as it was actually free and you got so many samples.

So, the goody bag is the bag on the left but you also got the John Lewis canvas bag to carry all your purchases in. The sample shown is a foundation sample I picked out from Estee Lauder and it actually matches! I really want to get it now, its the Double Wear foundation in the shade 'Shell'.

Here's what I got in my goody bag! Sooo many samples and from some lovely brands, I am so excited to try these out. Here's a list of what I got:
a personalised trio of Origins samples,
5ml sample of Magic Touch Cherry & Rice Milk ultra rich, whipped body cream,
2ml sample of be your best skin perfecting bb cream spf 30 in 02 medium,
Givenchy Very Irresistable Eau De Parfum sachet,
Sisley ecological compound day and night 1.5ml,
YSL Forever Youth Liberator Serum sachet,
Sisley Creme Hydratante Moisturiser 4ml,
Crabtree & Evelyn Tarocco Orange ultra-moisturising hand therapy 5g,
Givenchy eaudemoiselle De Givenchy Eau De Toilette sachet,
Philosophy purity made simple 3-in-1 cleanser for face and eyes 6ml,
Molton Brown fine liquid hand wash 30ml,
Acqua Di Parma Iris Nobile Sublime Eau De Parfum 1.5ml,
Clarins Eye Contour Gel for puffiness & dark circles 3ml,
Benefit Porefessional 0.15ml,
Dahlia Noir Givenchy Eau De Toilette 1ml,
Philosophy the microdelivery exfoliating facial wash 6ml,
Lancome La Vie Est Belle perfume sample in cute mini bottle 4ml,
Trollbeads silver polishing cloth,
Philosophy living grace eau de toilette 1.5ml,
REN Hydra-Calm Global Protection Day Cream 15ml,
Ojon Volumizing Conditioner 8ml,
Clinique repairwear laser focus wrinkle & UV damage corrector 7ml,
Caudalie S.O.S Thirst-Quenching Serum 1ml,
REN Glycolactic Radiance Renewal Mask 5ml,
and a little Trollbeads boiled sweet!

You can see I got alot of samples, most of them are teeny tiny, but still a great way to try out brands, I know you could get most of these sachets and samples free at counters, but a lot of these counters I don't have locally so I was very happy to recieve these!

Next I headed to the Dior counter and if you bought two items you got a Dior goody bag, so I was definitely interested. I really wanted a Dior lipstick but I spent so long selecting my second item, in the end I went for a eyeliner pencil.

Dior Addict Extreme Lipstick in '643 Diablotine Extreme' - £24

This is the Dior Addict Extreme lipstick in 643 Diablotine Extreme, you can also get Diablotine in a less extreme version of the lipstick, a lipgloss and a sparkly nail varnish that is absolutely gorgeous and definitely on my wishlist. I chose this lipstick because a girl on the counter was wearing it and it was gorgeous coral shade and when swatched it was super pigmented, you also got a mini lipstick in Diablotine in the goody bag so I thought it would be nice to have the matching lip products :)

Dior Eyeliner Waterproof with Blending Tip and Sharpener in '094 Trinidad Black' - £18

I was really struggling to pick a second product, I didn't want to spend £37 on a bronzer, I already have on of their blushers, didn't know my shade in foundation, had already picked a lip product, so didn't have much left to choose from. I picked a different eye pencil originally as it was crazy pigmented, but it was out of stock, but I will definitely be purchasing it in the future. This one was still pigmented and claims to be long-wearing and waterproof so I am still very happy with this purchase :) The Dior counter ladies were so, so helpful and I couldn't praise them more, I dawdled around that counter for such a long time and they were so informative on all the products!

Dior foundation samples:

I then picked out some foundations to sample and I chose the Diorskin Forever in shade 010, it does look pretty dark, so I don't think this will be suitable. I also picked the Diorskin Nude in shade 010 which seems to be a bit lighter, all their foundations and concealers seemed to be quite yellow toned though, which isn't suitable for me, I'm definitely pink toned. So, I'll try these this week and see if they suit me!

Dior Goody Bag

For buying two items from Dior you got a goody bag, this is what you got in it:
Dior Hydra Life BB Eye Creme SPF 20 in '02 Luminous Peach' 1ml,
Dior Ultimate Wrinkle Correction Creme 3ml,
Dior Addict Gloss in '643 Diablotine' 2ml (worth £8),
Dior Skin Boosting Super Serum 3ml,
Dior BB Creme SPF 30 in 'Luminous Beige' 3ml,
Dior Eye Zone Boosting Super Serum 3ml.

I mainly wanted the goody bag for the mini lipgloss as it is so cute and such a gorgeous coral shade! I am really happy with what I got from Dior :)

Next I went to YSL, for an offer I couldn't pass up! I got a sample for their Le Teint Touche Eclat foundation about a month ago and really liked it and was planning on purchasing it anyway, but glad I didn't rush, as I got an amazing offer! If you bought the foundation you got a free full size bronzer, as soon as I swatched the bronzer, I knew I had to have it, such a gorgeous shade with the most velvety texture.

The bronzer is worth £34 and I paid £29 (the cost of the foundation) for the two, very happy bunny!

The gorgeous gold signature YSL packaging, the purple box is a 5ml sample of the YSL Forever Light Creator Skintone Corrector Serum which they also gave me in the box shown above.

Now you can see how light I need my foundation! I love the compact for the bronzer, its so simple but so elegant. I don't have a high end bronzer, so I can't wait to see how it compares to the others I have.

This foundation gives you a gorgeous, dewy finish and I really recommend getting a sample, it really does give you that 'glowing' natural look whilst still having pretty good coverage!

The bronzer comes in a lovely velvet pouch and is in the shade '2 Terre Saharienne'. This is definitely the best deal I got and I am so over the moon with it!

Lastly, I went over to Clarins, Clarins usually have good 'gift with purchase' offers anyway, but I have been lusting after a few of their products so decided to get them as well.

So, here's everything I got from Clarins, you had to buy two items, one to be skincare in order to select three super size essentials.

I chose the Instant Light Natural Lip Perfector in '05 Candy Shimmer' as I already have it in '02 Apricot Shimmer', its so sheer but I love how it feels on my lips and it smells lovely too, I am hoping Candy Shimmer will be a little bit more pigmented :) This cost £17.

Next, you had to choose something from skincare and I have heard some really good things about the Pure and Radiant Mask with pink clay and decided to give that a go. Its quite expensive at £21.50 for 50ml, but I am really excited for this product.

I then chose my three super size essentials and also got another sample thrown in too.
I chose the HydraQuench Cream 30ml, the Multi-Active Night Youth Recovery Comfort Cream 30ml and the Body Lift Cellulite Control (targets early & stubborn cellulite - smoothes, firms and refines) 100ml. They also included a mini 5ml sample of the Multi-Active Day Cream, to try with the night cream I picked.

The event was brilliant, so well organised with some excellent offers to be had. There was ladies to paint your nails, a Rituals employee giving hand massages, a stage with a lady giving tips on outfits and makeup and plenty of food and champagne (Luke took advantage of this and drunk 7 glasses of champagne, oops). At the end of the event there was a prize draw, there was probably around 30 different prizes to be won, Clinique, YSL, Dior, Clarins and Lancome all had made up these amazing skincare/beauty packages that I was so hoping to win (I didn't, haha).

Then there was watches, jewellery and handbags (Ted Baker), the prizes must have been worth between £100 and £200 each, so generous! There was about 150 of us at the event and considering there was about 30 prizes, you had very good chances of winning, but I still didn't, I am super unlucky with things like that! It was still so much fun and I enjoyed it so much, the man presenting the giveaway promised there would be another event in November thats going to be even bigger and better with lots more prizes, so I am definitely going to that!

All the staff were amazing and so helpful, it was incredibly well organised and the man presenting the prize draw had a brilliant sense of humour! Well done John Lewis for a fantastic event, I was thoroughly impressed.

Sorry, this was a very long post but it was something I had to tell you guys about and I had never been to an event like this before and I loved it :)

Thanks for reading!

Have you tried any of the products/samples mentioned in this post? Let me know what you think of them if you have :)

Vaseline Spray & Go Body Moisturiser Review

Hey everyone :)

Today I want to just do a quick review on the Vaseline Spray & Go body moisturiser that I bought on a whim a few weeks back at the Boots points event. I have been loving this and this is definitely my new favourite moisturiser.

So I have had moisture mists before from Soap and Glory and really liked them but this is even better. It retails at £4.99 a bottle and there's 190ml per bottle, I think that's pretty good value. There are three different types currently available; Essential Moisture (which I have), Cocoa Radiant and Aloe Fresh, I definitely want to try the other two when this one runs out.

I do tend to neglect moistursing, its time consuming and takes a long time to dry and even when it is dry it tends to still feel sticky and heavy on your skin for a few hours. This however is so simple and quick, even a lazy person like me has time for this product! You hold it about 4 inches away from your body and you can spray continuously, then rub it in. It is so light and dries in probably 30 seconds. It leaves your skin feeling so soft and smells gorgeous, but not too overpowering. I couldn't fault this product at all, there is literally nothing I would change.

So this is how it comes out and if you hold it further away, it obviously covers a wider area, but I prefer to hold it a little closer otherwise it gets all over the furniture. If your skin is really, really dry you probably would need a more intense moisturiser, but for me this is perfect and all my other moisturisers will definitely be getting neglected from now on. Its amazing how much nicer this feels on the skin than say, a body butter for example, which just makes my skin feel so greasy and sticky.

Honestly I couldn't recommend this more, it really is a faultless product! An absolute must for the summer! :)

Also, here's a quick snap taken with my new camera, what do you guys think? I really like it so far but I am still getting used to it! :)

Thanks for reading!

Have you tried Vaseline's new Spray & Go body moisturisers?

Lifestyle Post: Little Trip To The Farm With Some Friends :)

Hey everyone,

Sorry I haven't posted for a few days, I've been super busy! I got a new camera and cannot wait to try it out for blog pictures, so I was busy picking and buying my camera, then I went into John Lewis to get colour matched for a Dior foundation and they were having this beauty event in there and it was amazing, I got lots of freebies and some great products too! So a post coming about that in the next few days to show you what I got and tell you a bit about it too :)

Then today me and my fiancé Luke, met up with one of my best friends, Hannah and her fiancé, Matt and their gorgeous son, Dylan to go to a trip to a little farm near us. We have a lovely time and I wanted to just to a quick post to show you what we got up to :)

It is actually a Van Hages garden centre, with a free (anything free is good in my books) farm attached to it and they also have a little train ride, which I will get to later, considering we're all 20-24, we enjoyed it more than Dylan, haha!

So, here's a picture of Matt, Hannah, me and Dylan :) It was so sunny and hot, which I usually don't like but I coped, haha.

Most of the chickens are free roaming so they like to come and see you. They have quite a lot of animals, mostly farmyard animals but they do have some owls, marmoset monkeys and meerkats too. They have loads of them fancy chickens too, which I love!

A rather scruffy looking fella, still a cutie though :)

 Check out this chicken's feet!

Luke feeding the chickens, they have these little food dispensers that you pay 20p to get goat food or chicken food and they go mad for it!

Some of the animals we came across, we didn't get many of the animals really. Look at the turkey just chilling out, think he was hot and bothered bless him.

The best bit, the train ride, reaching top speeds of 5mph!

Me and my wonderful fiancé :)

Just about to set off for the ride of our lives! Dylan absolutely loved the train, he was kicking his legs about with excitement and cried when we got off, bless him!

The little pond you go over on a bridge on the train ride, aww. This really is a lovely place for kids, but I still love it and go all the time, especially at Chrismas! Garden centres at Christmas are great to me, haha.

Dylan pulling my hair, his favourite thing to do!

Look at how cute the train is, the driver couldn't count and gave us three laps instead of two, I got my 90p's worth for sure!

Dylan was getting bored and tired so we gave him this bottle to play with and it kept him occupied for the whole 15/20 minute journey home!

A couple of pictures of my Hannah and Dylan :)

This is probably my limit when it comes to rides! Thorpe Park is definitely a no-go zone for me!

Good old Boris the scarecrow! On the little train ride you go past little figurines of gnomes playing cricket and lots of other weird and wonderful things, but good old Boris is my favourite!

So, we had a lovely time and will definitely be going back soon :)! Just a quick post today as I have been so busy, I haven't had time to do a proper one, but I will post about the beauty event at John Lewis very soon, and then I'll be back to good old reviews, I have so many things I want to show you guys!
