Review: Rimmel Kate Lasting Finish Matte Lipsticks in ‘101’, ‘107’, ‘110’ and ‘113’ With Lip Swatches!

Hey everyone,

Today I wanted to show you my Rimmel Kate Lasting Finish Matte lipsticks. There are five in the collection (101, 107, 110, 111 & 113), I don't have 111 because its a really vibrant red which just isn't my type of colour, but I have the other four shades. My first Rimmel Kate Lasting Finish lipstick was the 107, one of the most popular and famous lipsticks in the beauty blogging world. I really liked it, so when I saw the other shades were all reduced to £3.99 (regular price £5.49) last month on Boots.com, I got another three shades (101, 110 & 113).

I absolutely love these lipsticks and for the price, the formula and pigmentation is amazing. Described as a velvety matte formula, when applied these are more of semi-matte finish but dry after a few minutes to a completely matte finish. These lipsticks glide on so smoothly and last for hours. The only fault I could give these are that they do tend to cling on to dry patches on the lips (more so with the paler shades), but only ever so slightly. I suffer with really dry lips and there are many lipsticks I just can't wear, but these I can get away with, even with a matte formula!

There are so many reviews for the 107, I wanted to do some reviews on the other shades as well, so I've done a little review on each shade with swatches/lip swatches too :)

101

101 is a beautiful pale pink shade, perfect for everyday use. I am so glad I puchased this shade, I've been wearing pink lipstick a lot lately and this is such a simple, easy to wear shade. This is really easy to apply, you don't have to worry about it bleeding or anything and although this isn't the most pigmented lipstick, its still pigmented enough to change my natural red lips to a pretty pink shade :)

107

As I said before, this was the first lipstick I bought from the Rimmel Kate Lasting Finish matte lipstick collection. 107 is a wine colour, which is actually quite a lot darker than in the picture above. This is such a unique shade and is perfect for autumn/winter, its so richly pigmented and glides on beautifully.

The only fault I have with this lipstick is that it can be quite hard to apply. If you accidently get any lipstick outside of your natural lip line, it does tend to stain the skin and its quite hard to get off. Also, because it is so pigmented, if the line isn't perfectly straight, its very noticeable.

110

110 is a gorgeous vibrant coral shade and I think its going to be perfect for summer. The 110 is much easier to apply than the 107, but still requires a little more care than the 101 & 113. This is so pigmented and a little goes a long way, I really like this shade and its so striking against my pale skin, but I feel like it would suit any skintone.

DSCF8099
113

113 is a pretty nude shade, which is more like the 101 when it comes to pigmentation, it fully covers my naturally red lips but isn't as richly pigmented as the 107 and 110. I find this one super easy to apply, you don't have to worry if you go out of the lip line slightly, and although it does cling to the lips a little, its not too noticeable. I think I only own one or two nude lipsticks and they aren't really the right shade for me, whereas this one works for my skintone, so I'm really happy with it!

Overall, I really like this collection of lipsticks and for the price, the quality is great! I love each shade for different reasons and although none of them are the perfect formula for me (having ridiculously dry lips all the time), for matte lipsticks, they are incredible. Even though there are only five shades, I think there is definitely a shade for everyone :)

OOTD & FOTD and Some Photos From A Beautiful Civil Partnership Wedding!

Hey everyone,

Just thought I would do an OOTD for a wedding I went to a few weeks back. It was my first civil partnership and it was by far the most beautiful and emotional wedding I have ever been to. It was also held at the venue me and my Fiance have been looking at, so it was extra exciting to see it all and envisage our wedding there too :)

Here's how I had my makeup! I went for a plum smokey eye and was really happy with how it came out, considering I only started using multiple shades of eyeshadow about six months ago! The eyeshadow palette I used was the Lancome Hypnose Doll Eyes Palette in 'D01 Fraicheur Rosee', which I have been using all the time lately, Its a great alternative to my usual neutral shades. I used Lancome's Artliner liquid eyeliner, Dior's Diorshow Waterproof Liner for my waterline and a tiny bit of the eyeshadow shade 'Creep' from Urban Decay's Naked Palette, which is a metallic black shade and I used this just under my lashes and blended it out to give a smokey effect. The mascara I used is my absolute favourite, YSL's Volume Effet Faux Cils, I'm on my third tube now and I can't get enough of it!

My shoes are from New Look and you can find them here in white and black for £29.99. I had a last minute rush to find some shoes...the night before, so was lucky that I found these in New Look. They're really comfortable and have good grip, I can't stand heels that have no grip! The ankle bracelet was from a seller on eBay and was £2.55 with free postage, bargain! The seller has so many ankle bracelets, lots of different designs and colours and you can see them all here!

My dress is from Missguided and you can find it here for £24.99! Its really nice quality and I was a bit worried about it being too short but it was fine. This dress also available in plain colours; black, dusky pink, deep green, cobalt blue, silver grey, burgundy, baby blue and lilac. You can find all those shades here!

Here's some pictures from the wedding:

I had such a lovely time and its made me so excited for my wedding. I've got to start saving! :)

The offer is: buy any two Lancome products and receive a free gift worth £74. I think this is an incredible offer and a great way to try Lancome as a brand if you have never tried them before.

Sorry the picture isn’t very clear but here’s what you receive in the free gift:

lancome

This includes:

Advanced Genefique – A youth boosting serum that leaves you with beautifully radiant and smooth skin.
Hypnose Mascara – A buildable mascara capable of creating six times the volume of your regular lashes.

All the samples I have ever received from Lancome in gift with purchase sets are a really decent size and last me such a long time, so I'm sure they will be the same in this set. A total of 10 wonderful products, all of which I have used and rate very highly. If you are interested in making the most of this offer, all you have to do is add the two chosen items you want to purchase and the gift will automatically add to your shopping basket.

I have ordered two products today to take advantage of this excellent offer, the items I picked were the Exfoliance Clarte (£29) a lovely gel-based exfoliator and Effet Miracle Primer in 01 Porcelain Effect (£26), a primer that can be used alone as a skin corrector or under foundation. I've used the exfoliator before and its a great product but have never used the primer, so really excited to test it out!

If you're on more of a budget, they nail polishes are the cheapest item you can buy and retail at £12.50 each :)

Glossybox: March 2014

Hey everyone,

In the post today I received my March Glossybox, which I paid for using my Glossydots, so was actually free - which I am very glad about because this box just wasn't for me. I hadn't looked at any spoilers so everything was a complete surprise.

This month's theme was 'Beauty Blossom' and was all about kissing goodbye to winter and welcoming spring. The thing is, none of the products seem to fit that theme, so that was a big let down. I am actually really tempted to unsubscribe to Glossybox after this box.

Here's what was inside:

Vita Liberata pHenomenal 2-3 Week Tan Lotion

Let's start with the worst, shall we? Two 3ml sachets of fake tan...enough to fake tan my foot...maybe. What is the point in this?! Even to test it out, I wouldn't want one tanned foot for 2-3 weeks! I have already heard about this fake tan and its meant to be really good, but unfortunately I don't want to test it out on a part of my body, I would need to test it out on the whole of my body! 150ml retails at £37.50, so quite pricey, but all the best fake tans are. Glossybox did include a 20% discount though, so maybe I will try a bottle!

Dove Hair Therapy Intensive Repair 60 Second Treatment Shot

This is the only product I am excited to use. I have heard really great things about Dove haircare products and have yet to try them out! I have used one of these treatment shots before, a Tresemme one and found it really worked well and I completely forgot about that, so even if this one isn't as good it has reminded me to go out and purchase the Tresemme one! You apply this after shampooing (avoiding the roots), leave on for 60 seconds then rinse off, perfect for a quick hair boost! This is full size (15ml) and retails at £1.49.

DSCF9231DSCF9238

Bellapierre Cosmetics Ltd Shimmer Powder in 'Coral Reef'

This powder claims to be the ultimate multi-use product. On first glance it just looks like an eyeshadow, but it can actually be used to mix into blusher, lip gloss or even nail polish to create your own custom-made makeup! Its just such a pity that the shade I was sent is a golden orange, not at all suitable for eyeshadow, blusher or lipgloss especially not for very pale skin. This is a full size product and retails at £12.99.

DSCF9240DSCF9243

Sleek MakeUP Pout Polish Tinted Lip Balm in 'Bonaire 967'

Another orange product, yay! Now I can have orange lips to go with my fake-tanned orange foot and my orange eyelids! Please detect a hint of sarcasm here. This is a hideously vibrant orange, actually described as 'electric orange', definitely not for me. This is not in any way subtle, even though it is sheer, its just orange which looks ridiculous on me. This is full size and retails at £4.49, this particular shade is from the Limited Edition Caribbean Collection. I would have loved this product, had it been in a more wearable shade, so its a real shame they send me the worst possible shade.

DSCF9246

Mitchell and Peach Body Cream

Its hard to get excited about a body cream, I have so many of them and to be honest, they all do the same thing more or less. I certainly wouldn't be paying £36 for 180ml, this is a 40ml sample, which is quite generous! It does smell nice, but nothing amazing and not something I would choose.

Box Contents Total:
Vita Liberta pHenomenal 2-3 Week Tan Lotion: £1.50
Dove Hair Therapy Intensive Repair 60 Second Treatment Shot: £1.49
Bellapierre Cosmetics Ltd Shimmer Powder: £12.99
Sleek MakeUP Pout Polish £4.49
Mitchell and Peach Body Cream £8.40
Total: £28.87

Overall, I'm not at all impressed with the contents of this month's box. Birchbox just outdo Glossybox every month for me! But saying that, if the shades weren't orange this box might have impressed me a lot more!

Birchbox: March 2014

Hey everyone,

I'm a bit late getting this post up, I actually received this box on Friday but didn't have time to write any posts over the weekend. We found out last month that the March Birchbox was going to be a collaboration with Lulu Guinness. When I heard that I was so excited as to what the collaboration would entail, but I have to say I'm disappointed.

Turns out the collaboration entails; a thin cardboard slip which surrounded the box advertising the new spring/summer collection, a little booklet with some tips from Lulu Guinness, a stick of rock (yes, seriously) and a voucher for £20 off a £100 spend online or instore at Lulu Guinness. Considering the handbags are about £300, the £20 off doesn't really make much of a dent in the price. I don't know what I was expecting but this definitely wasn't something I was excited about, at all.

But the box itself had some really great items and that's the main thing! This month's Birchbox was actually quite good (contents wise) and the items were all from very well known luxury brands but the collaboration was a massive letdown for me.

English Laundry No.7 Perfume Sample

Least exciting by far is this tiny 2ml perfume sample from English Laundry. Everyone knows you can pick up these perfume samples at any department store for free, all you need to do is ask. I don't understand how beauty boxes can include these as an item when they are free. The perfume itself is ok, not something I would purchase. It is described as having top notes of pear and jasmine blended with gardenia, vanilla and sandalwood. I would actually prefer this scent as a room fragrance instead of on my body!

DSCF9194

Korres Citrus Body Milk

This is a 50ml travel sized citrus scented body milk from Korres and retails at £2.43 so very purse friendly. This body milk's hydating properties are all down to the inclusion of super nourishing almond oil and shea butter. 50ml is the perfect size for travelling and this smells incredible. Its almost a masculine scent and just reminds me of my Fiance's citrus scented aftershaves. Being a body milk, this means it is very light and much more watery than a standard body moisturiser, which I like. It sinks into the skin relatively quickly and leaves the skin delicately scented and perfectly hydrated. I definitely want to delve more into the world of Korres now.

DSCF9200

Molton Brown Rhubarb & Rose Replenishing Hand Cream

This hand cream is from Rhubarb & Rose Hand Collection, a new release for Mother's Day. 40ml retails at £10 and this is a tiny 7ml sample, I'm guessing you'd probably get about 3 or 4 uses out of this. I love trying luxury brands like Molton Brown, I just wish we could get slightly bigger sample sizes! Rhubarb and Rose didn't appeal to me at all but its actually a very nice and refreshing scent.

DSCF9201

Dr. Brandt Pores No More Pore Refiner

This product has a sheer formula which claims to hide and refine pores, instantly mattify shine and absorb excess oil - sounds great to me! You apply a thin layer to your face before make-up and after moisturiser. This is a 7.5ml sample (full size is 30ml and retails at £39) but you only have to use a tiny bit on your T-Zone, so this should last a while! I'm really excited to try this, my pores are quite visible and I'm always trying to mask them as best as I can.

Benefit Stay Don't Stray

This multi-use primer from Benefit is suitable not only for eyeshadow but also for concealers. I love a multi-use product and having never used a concealer primer, this sounds quite exciting! I have actually received a sample of this before but I have no idea where it is! This sample is 2.5ml and retails at £20.50 for full size (10ml). So this is a decent enough size and will probably last quite some time :)

DSCF9197

Candy Rock

The lifestyle extra in this box is a stick of rock - what else can I say, haha.

Box Contents Total:
English Laundry No. 7: £1.88
Korres Citrus Body Milk: £2.43
Molton Brown Rhubarb & Rose Hand Cream: £1.75
Dr. Brandt Pores No More Pore Refiner: £9.75
Benefit Stay Don't Stray: £5.12
Stick of Rock: 50p
Total Value: £21.43

Overall, I do like the contents of this box but I think most of them were relatively inexpensive tiny samples. I am really happy with the brands included and the variety of products though! :)

If you are interested in signing up to Birchbox, please sign up via this link. If you sign up through that link we both receive £5 to spend on the Birchbox eshop on so many exciting brands, including all of the above! :)
